Vargas has signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox that includes an invite to major-league spring training.

The White Sox reassigned Vargas (non-injury related) to their minor-league camp Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said Wednesday that Vargas' arrival at spring camp would be delayed while he deals with visa issues, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Vargas was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Monday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Vargas was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on Friday.

The Diamondbacks optioned Vargas to Triple-A Reno on March 6.
