Perez was released by the Tigers on Thursday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Perez (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with the Tigers' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate June 10 and has given up 11 earned runs on seven hits and nine walks across 6.2 innings through his first three outings.

Perez (shoulder) was spotted rehabbing at the Tigers' facility in Lakeland, Fla. on Wednesday but he isn't expected to participate at any point during spring training, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Perez (shoulder) re-signed with the Tigers on a minor-league deal Wednesday and was placed on the 60-day injured list at High-A West Michigan, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.

The Tigers placed Perez (shoulder) on unconditional release waivers Wednesday.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Perez is scheduled to undergo right shoulder surgery Wednesday in Los Angeles, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Perez (shoulder) met with a specialist Thursday and the Tigers will announce a plan going forward in 24-48 hours, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Perez landed on the minor-league injured list with a right shoulder capsule defect Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The Tigers optioned Perez to their minor-league camp Tuesday.
