Gettys has working out exclusively as a pitcher during the Red Sox's minor-league camp, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Gettys signed a minor-league contract with the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Gettys was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Gettys (undisclosed) is 6-for-22 (.273) with a home run and a double since returning from the disabled list with High-A Lake Elsinore on July 26.

Gettys was placed on the disabled list with High-A Lake Elsinore on Wednesday, Bill Center of FriarWire reports.

Gettys, 21, hit three solo home runs in Friday's game for High-A Lake Elsinore. He is now hitting .261/.342/.430 with seven homers and 13 steals (on 17 attempts) in 207 at-bats.
