Marlins sent RHP Steven Ames outright to Triple-A New Orleans.
The 25-year-old hurler appeared in four games for the Fish in 2013, registering a 4.50 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 4/1 K/BB ratio in four innings. His numbers in 46 1/3 innings at Triple-A weren't much more encouraging, compiling a 3.69 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 34/17 K/BB ratio, though that was in the hitter-friendly PCL. He could compete for a role in the Marlins bullpen during spring training.
Marlins optioned RHP Steven Ames to Triple-A New Orleans.
Ames allowed six hits, two walks and two earned runs in four innings during his two-week stay with the Fish. Miami will make a corresponding roster move Friday.
Marlins recalled RHP Steven Ames from Triple-A New Orleans.
Acquired in the Ricky Nolasco trade, Ames tossed seven scoreless innings at New Orleans to earn a promotion. He'll be used in middle relief.
Marlins acquired RHPs Steven Ames, Josh Wall and Angel Sanchez from the Dodgers for RHP Ricky Nolasco.
Ames has struggled out of the bullpen at Triple-A Albuquerque this season, but he posted a promising 1.56 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 72/13 K/BB ratio over 63 1/3 innings at Double-A Chattanooga in 2012. He could see time in the Marlins bullpen at some point this season.
Steven Ames is rumored to be one of three minor league arms that would head to the Marlins if the Dodgers are able to execute a trade for Ricky Nolasco.
Ames, a 25-year-old righty and former 17th-round selection of the Dodgers, owns a 2-2 record, 3.67 ERA and 1.69 WHIP through 34 1/3 innings in the bullpen at Triple-A Albuquerque this season. The Dodgers are reportedly willing to take on all of Nolasco's salary, so the Marlins aren't going to receive any top-tier prospects in return.
Dodgers optioned RHPs Steven Ames and Matt Magill to Triple-A Albuquerque and reassigned RHP Matt Palmer to minor league camp.
Magill will join Albuquerque's rotation, while Ames will likely be their closer and has a good chance at a call-up this season. Palmer will have arthroscopic knee surgery soon.
