BREWERS TAKE A CHANCE ON SAM FREEMAN Tuesday, April 5, 2016
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Sam Freeman from the Texas Rangers for cash.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers?
The Brewers are rebuilding but had a need for a left-handed reliever out of the 'pen, so adding Freeman makes sense at this time. The 28-year-old Texan has a good arm but has battled control issues throughout his career. Still, he's a solid pickup for Milwaukee.
What does it give the Texas Rangers?
The Rangers decided to move Freeman and keep Andrew Faulkner as their second left-handed out of the bullpen (behind Jake Diekman). Therefore, they shipped Freeman to the Brewers in return for cash. This is a good move for all parties involved.
Fantasy Impact
Freeman may get a few more hold opportunities in Milwaukee but he is not a great fantasy option on the rebuilding Brewers.
