This is an interesting trade, mainly because both teams traded from a position of strength to help curb an organizational weakness. The Rays needed more pop in their lineup, so adding Dickerson was a solid move. He will likely play left field most of the time, possibly sitting against left-handers. His acquisition may make Desmond Jennings expendable (or a bench player). Padlo is an interesting prospect who may have to switch positions because he's now stuck behind Evan Longoria.

For the Rockies, this deal was about trading one of their surplus outfielders for more pitching help. McGee should team with fellow newcomers Jason Motte and Chad Qualls to form a solid bullpen trio in the late innings. Marquez adds more depth to the rotation (or bullpen), though he will need more time before reaching the big leagues.
