With David Freese currently injured, the Angels decided to add a little more depth at the hot corner in Gillaspie. The left-handed batter doesn't have much power but he can be a decent fill-in for the time being.

The White Sox decided to designate Gillaspie for assignment earlier in the week. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before they found Gillaspie a new MLB home. They'll receive some cash in return.

Gillaspie might have a little short-term fantasy value but he's no longer considered everyday material at the hot corner.
