In the minors, Wilkins has shown the ability to bat for a lot of power (hitting 30 dingers last season in Triple-A). At age 26 he's somewhat a minor league journeyman, but perhaps the Dodgers see him as a potential call-up if they need some left-handed power off the bench this season. Another relevant factor is Wilkins may be able to play some third base, and L.A.'s hot corner depth is foggy at the major league level.

The Blue Jays claimed Wilkins recently from the White Sox, clearly in hopes he would provide some depth at first base (where Toronto is still looking for answers). Unfortunately for the Jays, Wilkins got off to a slow start at Triple-A this season (zero homers in 21 games) so they're moving on here.

If Wilkins gets a call-up this season from the Dodgers he may have some deep sleeper appeal, since the team is still looking for help at third base (especially from the left side of the plate, which would force even more of a platoon for current righties Juan Uribe and Alex Guerrero). If he sticks at first base, however (and is stuck behind superstar Adrian Gonzalez), look elsewhere to unearth fantasy gems.
