Atlanta Braves NL East
Trade Details
ANGELS, BRAVES SWAP THREE Thursday, January 8, 2015
The Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Kyle Kubitza and pitcher Nate Hyatt from the Atlanta Braves for pitcher Ricardo Sanchez.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels?
In Kubitza, the Angels get a quality third base prospect who may be ready to take over the starting role from Freese after 2015 (when the latter is scheduled to become a free agent). Kubitza is more athletic and patient than Freese (with less power). As for Hyatt, he is a fairly solid reliever in the making.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves?
Sanchez has plenty of intriguing potential for the Braves: he's left-handed with a great arm and huge potential as a starting pitcher. That said, he's only turning 18 in April! Still, this is a solid move for the rebuilding Braves--who are stockpiling young arms lately with the hope of completing their rebuilding plan down the road.
Fantasy Impact
None of the three prospects dealt should be considered fantasy assets for 2015, with Kubitza being the closest to the bigs. Sanchez has the most long-range upside but fantasy owners will have to wait a long time for him. Hyatt's stock is steady (yet unspectacular) as a future late-inning reliever.
