In Rodriguez, the Pirates land a very accomplished utility man who can play all positions. He is not likely to play every day with his new team but will be invaluable coming off the bench. He has a little speed and a little power, too, so there should be stretches during the 2015 season when he plays regularly.

The Rays had designated Rodriguez for assignment, so they at least were able to secure assets for him. For the '15 campaign, the Rays have other options to serve a utility role off the bench--namely Nick Franklin, Logan Forsythe, Hak-Ju Lee and perhaps even Tim Beckham.

Rodriguez needs to adjust to the move to the National League, but he might see a spike in fantasy value in Pittsburgh. He's a dark horse heading into 2015.
