O'S ADD LEFT-HANDER BARNES FROM TRIBE Wednesday, November 26, 2014
The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Scott Barnes from the Cleveland Indians for cash.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles?
The 27-year-old left-hander spent all of 2014 at Triple-A Columbus but did appear in a total of 22 big-league games for the Indians the previous two campaigns. A former starter, Barnes is now predominantly a reliever and will attempt to crack Baltimore's roster in spring training. He's mainly a depth acquisition.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians?
Cleveland had designated Barnes for assignment recently, so they at least did well to get back some cash for his services. Barnes was deemed expendable by the Tribe because of the presence of Rzepczynski Hagadone and Crockett as lefties out of their bullpen.
Fantasy Impact
Barnes has very little fantasy value at this time, as he is likely to serve as a long man out of Baltimore's bullpen if he makes the team out of spring training.
