The 27-year-old right-hander struggled in big-league stints with the Mets both in 2018 and especially last season, so Pittsburgh is merely taking a flier on his arm and adding depth here.

The Mets recently designated Bashlor for assignment, so it was obvious that he was no longer in their plans. They did well to receive cash in exchange for Bashlor's services.

There is no fantasy impact to speak of here, as Bashlor will report to the Pirates' alternate training site (and may remain there for the foreseeable future).
