SAN FRANCISCO SENDS ANDREOLI TO MINNESOTA FOR MICHAEL REED Saturday, March 23, 2019
The San Francisco Giants acquired outfielder Michael Reed from the Minnesota Twins for outfielder John Andreoli and cash.
What does it give the San Francisco Giants?
In Reed, the Giants acquire a 26-year-old outfielder who may be on the verge of a breakout campaign in MLB. San Francisco certainly hopes so, since the team is very thin in outfield talent at present time. Look for Reed to get a look as an everyday player early on in 2019, possibly in right field.
What does it give the Minnesota Twins?
The Twins made this deal because Reed was on their 40-man roster and Andreoli does not have to be added, so this move creates an opening to add a prospect to the 40-man roster. Reed was not going to break camp with Minnesota, so they were able to find him a new home. Everybody wins.
Fantasy Impact
Reed is starting to hit for more power (at least in the minors), and he also offers a bit of speed. Therefore, he could be a decent pickup in very deep leagues as a dart throw because the opportunity to play a lot is right in front of him in San Francisco. As for Andreoli, he will likely remain in the minors leagues for the foreseeable future. He offers no fantasy value.
