In Alvarez, the Phillies land a quality left-hander out of the bullpen. The 29-year-old Venezuelan can be effective against both left-handed and right-handed hitters, so he will not necessarily be limited to the role of situational lefty in 2019.

Garcia is a little older than Alvarez (31) and is coming off a rough 2018 campaign (46 IP, 6.07 ERA). That said, he is more talented than Alvarez and can strike a lot of batters out. Therefore, he may help the Angels in '19.

Neither reliever involved in this transaction is an automatic fantasy pickup going into next season, but a wait-and-see approach should be taken with both Alvarez and Garcia as they settle into their bullpen roles on their new clubs.
