For the Dodgers, adding Dozier is a clear upgrade over Forsythe (who went the other way in this transaction, mostly to off-set salary). Dozier should play every day at second base for the Dodgers, which will allow Max Muncy to remain at first base and Cody Bellinger to play mostly center field down the stretch.

Raley might become the key to this trade for Minnesota, as he has the ability to hit for power (enough to possibly earn a job in left field). Forsythe might replace Dozier as the short-term second baseman in Minny, while Smeltzer is a candidate to serve a depth role for the Twins--eventually. Minnesota did not get enough here.

Dozier's fantasy stock should rise after this trade, though Chavez Ravine is not a great hitters' park and Dozier has never played in the National League. Temper expectations a little. Forsythe has a chance to redeem himself if he receives enough at-bats for the Twins, though he may play a utility infielder role in September as Minnesota recalls prospects to audition. Raley has some keeper value but he still has some work to do in order to become a strong everyday player candidate in Minny. As for Smeltzer, he is not on the fantasy radar until further notice.
