Nicholas should add organizational depth behind the plate for the Padres, though he is likely to peak as a backup catcher in any MLB organization.

The Rangers had recently designated Nicholas for assignment, so they did well to at least get back a future asset in return (albeit a minor addition).

Nicholas does not have much in the way of fantasy value, and should mostly be considered a backup at the highest level. There is nothing to see here, move it along.
