In Almonte, the Angels have added a quality arm with significant command issues. That said, the 25-year-old right-hander has the stuff worthy of taking a chance on. He can start or relieve but look for LA to develop him further as a pitcher out of the bullpen. He could see MLB time later on in 2018.

It is a little bit surprising that the Royals gave up on Almonte this quickly but, since KC had designated him for assignment recently, they did well to at least get something back in return for his services. Overall, Almonte made 11 appearances for the Royals (0-2, 7.59 ERA, 12 hits, 9 ER in 10.2 IP).

Almonte is definitely an arm worth keeping an eye on, though he should not be picked up in fantasy leagues until he reaches Los Angeles and is given a specific role.
