Overton has some upside but has yet to put it all together in the big leagues. He is still only 25 years old, so perhaps a move to the Mariners organization is just what the doctor ordered for Overton. He could compete for a No. 5 starter role this spring.

The A's had designated Overton for assignment recently, so they did well to add another catching prospect to their stables in the form of 23-year-old Goldstein. This seemingly minor transaction could turn out to be a steal for Oakland (down the line).

Both Overton and Goldstein have a little bit of fantasy appeal, but both are wait-and-see types rather than definite keeper-league pickups at this time. Overton is closer to becoming a regular in MLB, but Goldstein might have better long-range upside. Stay tuned, in both cases.
