For the Nationals, they are giving Cordero a look on their 40-man roster with the hope he can put things together in D.C. The 25-year-old right-hander has some decent talent but struggled in the big leagues in 2016. He is looking to turn things around.

The Phillies had decided to give up on Cordero, and they designated for assignment prior to the trade. Therefore, getting back some cash or a marginal prospect as a player to be named later is a decent return for a reliever they no longer wanted around.

Cordero is still far away from the fantasy radar, so he needs to become a regular setup man in Washington in order to become a solid relief option in fantasy leagues.
