The Knicks waived Shamet (shoulder) on Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

The Knicks announced Friday that Shamet dislocated his right shoulder and will be reevaluated at a later date.

Shamet will start in Tuesday's preseason game against the Hornets, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.

Shamet is increasingly likely to earn a roster spot in the Knicks' opening night rotation, head coach Tom Thibodeau implied to Stefan Bondy of The New York Post. "I don't make the final decision on that, but I'm basing it on what [Shamet's] done on the floor. He's really done well," Thibodeau said.

Shamet (calf) was spotted participating in training camp Tuesday, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.
