Babb was waived by the Warriors on Friday, Marc J. Spears of Yahoo reports.
Babb has officially been traded from Boston to Golden State in a deal which also sends Gerald Wallace to the Warriors in exchange for David Lee, the Warriors' official site reports.
The Celtics have signed Chris Babb to a multi-year deal.
Babb's second 10-day contract ended on Thursday, so this is great news for the 24-year-old out of Penn State. This isn't, however, major fantasy news as Babb will mostly serve as bench fodder for the C's as long as Avery Bradley stays healthy. Babb hasn't seen any game action since March 12 and will be hard-pressed to provide any fantasy value with the limited minutes he's seen since joining the team.
Chris Babb is hoping to be signed for the rest of the season by the Celtics.
Babb's second 10-day contract expires on Thursday and since players cannot sign a third 10-day contract, Babb is hoping that the Celtics will sign him to a rest-of-season contract. "I've put it all out there," Babb said. "I'd be happy [to be signed for the remainder of the season]. I'd have that same feeling of accomplishment, but at the same time I'd still have to be motivated." Babb is only averaging 2.2 points per game during his time with the Celtics and he hasn't played since March 12, so he faces long odds to stick around now that Avery Bradley is healthy. Even if the Celtics do sign Babb for the rest of the season, he won't provide any fantasy value as a bench player for Boston.
The Celtics have signed Chris Babb to a second 10-day contract.
"He's a perfect fit for what we need," said Brad Stevens. "He's not going to play 38 minutes a game, he's going to come in, get open shots, hopefully knock those open shots down, play off other people, and be a feisty defender for us." That about sums up his role in Boston, and his 3.3 points per game aren't going to help any fantasy owners.
The Celtics plan to sign Chris Babb of the D-League on Friday.
He's not exactly having a strong year in the D-League, shooting 37.9 percent from the field for 11.9 points per game in his 32 outings. Babb can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
