CLIPS GET DELFINO, RADULJICA FROM BUCKS FOR DUDLEY, PICK Tuesday, August 26, 2014
The Milwaukee Bucks acquired swingman Jared Dudley and a protected 1st-round draft pick in 2017 from the Los Angeles Clippers for swingman Carlos Delfino, center Miroslav Raduljica, and a second-round draft pick in 2015.
What does it give the Milwaukee Bucks?
The Bucks have a lot of unproven young talent, so having a steady veteran leader in Dudley will help them a lot. Despite his struggles last season Dudley is a high-character leader who can be an above-average producer when on his game. He can also line up at several different positions, which gives Milwaukee more options for its fairly unsettled rotation. The first-round pick is a very nice bonus, especially for a team in building mode.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers?
Delfino and Raduljica aren't stars, but overall this is a sneaky-good swap for the Clippers. When healthy Delfino is one of the NBA's more underrated swingmen, and his athleticism is a nice depth addition for a Clips squad that loves to run. Meanwhile Raduljica has some untapped upside and is a true center whose bulk will help L.A. line up more favorably against teams that try to play physical ball. The first-rounder is a high price, but it's protected and won't be used until 2017.
Fantasy Impact
Dudley gets an immediate boost in fantasy appeal here, as he's going from being a role player on a star-studded Clips squad to being a potential go-to guy for the unproven Bucks. That doesn't mean he should be drafted in the early rounds of fantasy leagues, but Dudley might be a starter for Milwaukee. That could mean fewer minutes for young Milwaukee talents Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, and probably completely nullifies any fantasy value Mayo might have had left. On the Clippers, Delfino and Raduljica won't have much fantasy value. Then again, Delfino will have more appeal than he did last season (when he didn't play a single game due to injury) and Raduljica will benefit from backing up stars Jordan and Hawes at center.
