KINGS MOVE FOR MFIONDU KABENGELE Monday, March 22, 2021
The Sacramento Kings acquired forward/center Mfiondu Kabengele, a conditional second-round draft pick in 2022 and cash from the Los Angeles Clippers for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2022.
What does it give the Sacramento Kings?
In the short term, adding Kabengele makes sense for a Kings roster that will be without starting power forward Marvin Bagley III for an indefinite period of time due to a fractured left hand. Kabengele should provide some depth. He may see more playing time with his new team even when Bagley III returns.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers?
The Clippers had little use for Kabengele, with Marcus Morris Sr., Nicolas Batum, Serge Ibaka and Ivica Zubac all seeing regular minutes at the 4 and 5 spots. So, they moved him to Sacramento along with some cash and will receive the better of the teams' second-round picks in the '22 draft.
Fantasy Impact
Perhaps keeper leaguers may want to take a flier on Kabengele, who is still young enough to become a rotation regular in Sacramento. Otherwise, take a wait-and-see approach with him.
