HAWKS MOVE UP TO FOURTH OVERALL Saturday, July 6, 2019
The Atlanta Hawks acquired forward De'Andre Hunter, guard Jordan Bone, a conditional second-round draft pick in 2023 and forward/guard Solomon Hill from the New Orleans Pelicans for center/forward Jaxson Hayes, guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker, guard Marcos Louzada Silva and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2020.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks?
For the Hawks, moving up from 8 to 4 in this draft was in order to secure the rights to Virginia small forward Hunter. To do so, they also accepted the contract of Hill ($12 million) and also landed Bone and another potential second-rounder.
What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans?
For New Orleans, this move helps them because they shed significant salary by dumping Hill's contract (while at the same time getting an extra first-rounder and second-round upgrade. The Pelicans also get a conditional first in next year's draft.
Fantasy Impact
Hill may not play more now that he is in Atlanta, and it remains to be seen if he will even be on the roster when 2019-20 begins. Hunter may be a nice fit for Atlanta, who now boast Trae Young, John Collins and Hunter as a solid foundation. Hayes should be a backup center/power forward in New Orleans to start off, so his value is mostly in keeper leagues. The other players are question marks at this time.
