DEKKER DEALT TO CLEVELAND Tuesday, August 7, 2018
The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired forward Sam Dekker, guard Renaldas Seibutis and cash considerations from the Los Angeles Clippers for forward Vladimir Veremeenko.
What does it give the Cleveland Cavaliers?
For Cleveland, this deal gives them a player who plays a position of need (small forward, following the departure of franchise player LeBron James). Dekker may see a fair amount of minutes with the Cavaliers in 2018-19, especially in what is likely to be a rebuilding campaign. Seibutis is not expected to move to the NBA at any point in his career.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers?
For the Clippers, the departure of Dekker opens up a roster spot (which they will likely fill before the start of training camp). Los Angeles appears comfortable with Danilo Gallinari and Wesley Johnson occupying the small forward position for 2018-19. Like Seibutis, Veremeenko is not expected to play any NBA basketball during his career. This was a player dump.
Fantasy Impact
Dekker's fantasy fortunes have improved slightly after this deal, though he is still not a great option in most leagues. He has slightly more value in keeper leagues but lacks major upside.
