Atlanta is looking to re-shape its roster this off-season, and the addition of Lin is the latest move toward that end. He joins a crowded backcourt that already includes veterans Dennis Schroder (at point guard) and Kent Bazemore (at shooting guard), as well as recent first-round draft pick point guard Trae Young. Schroder is expected to be the next Hawk to be traded this summer, so in the coming season Atlanta might be looking at a three-guard rotation of Lin, Young, and Bazemore.

The Nets moved Lin to save some salary cap money (since his $13.8 million contract is hefty and Cordinier wasn't signed by the Hawks). Brooklyn also lands a second rounder in '20, although it cost them a second in '25 and the best of the '23 second rounders between their pick and Atlanta's. As for Cordinier, he is a '16 second round selection with some talent, but he remains overseas.

Lin has clearly been brought in to provide a mature, hard-working steady hand who can play big minutes and mentor Young (and Schroder, if Schroder sticks around). Of course, that is predicated on Lin being healthy enough to play (since he's recovering from a ruptured patellar tendon). Lin can start at either of point guard or shooting guard, and it won't be surprising if he gets the nod at the point position if he's healthy. That obviously hurts the fantasy fortunes of both Young and Schroder. There is no fantasy fallout from this deal for Nets players.
