DENVER DEALS JUSTIN JACKSON TO ORLANDO FOR JARRED VANDERBILT Thursday, June 21, 2018
The Denver Nuggets acquired the draft rights to guard-forward Jarred Vanderbilt from the Orlando Magic for the draft rights to combo forward Justin Jackson and a future 2nd-round draft pick.
What does it give the Denver Nuggets?
This is a bit of a steal by the Nuggets. Vanderbilt was drafted two spots earlier than Jackson, and while they're yielding a future 2nd-rounder as well here Denver probably gets the higher-upside player. Vanderbilt is raw but has first-round talent and even a bit of star potential.
What does it give the Orlando Magic?
Jackson projects as a very solid role player, and he's more ready than Vanderbilt to contribute in the NBA (which is probably why the Magic deal for him here). The future second-rounder is a nice bonus.
Fantasy Impact
Jackson will likely have more fantasy value in 2018-19 than Vanderbilt, but don't expect too much; he projects as a depth / role player guy. That said, keep an eye on Vanderbilt for keeper and / or dynasty formats; he brings rare skills and vision for a guy his size and might prove to be a steal for Denver at some point down the road.
