CLIPS GET GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER, HORNETS ADD MILES BRIDGES ON DRAFT NIGHT Thursday, June 21, 2018
The Los Angeles Clippers acquired the draft rights to combo guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the Charlotte Hornets for the draft rights to combo forward Miles Bridges and two future 2nd-round draft picks.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers?
The Clippers clearly wanted Gilgeous-Alexander with the No. 12 overall pick of the draft, but the Hornets scooped him up at No. 11. As a result the Clips give up the two second-rounders to land their man, and pick up Bridges for Charlotte in the deal.
What does it give the Charlotte Hornets?
The Hornets obviously coveted Bridges more than Gilgeous-Alexander but were aware of L.A.'s desire for Gilgeous-Alexander, so Charlotte does a nice job here of capitalizing on that by adding two future second-rounders (while also landing the player they wanted).
Fantasy Impact
Gilgeous-Alexander probably has a better chance at rookie fantasy production with the Clippers than he might have with the Hornets, so this boosts his Year 1 fantasy value. Bridges has a chance to compete for a starting forward spot with Charlotte, so this is good for the fantasy fortunes of both players here.
