BUCKS GET THE RIGHTS TO SECOND-ROUNDER BROWN FROM SIXERS Thursday, July 6, 2017
The Milwaukee Bucks acquired the draft rights to swingman Sterling Brown from the Philadelphia 76ers for cash.
What does it give the Milwaukee Bucks?
Brown is an intriguing swingman whom the Bucks clearly like as a prospect, and he's older and probably more ready than a lot of players NBA teams usually get in the second round of a draft. Last season Milwaukee struck it rich with another mature second-rounder (eventual NBA Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon) so it's hard to dislike this addition.
What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers?
The Sixers are teeming with resources, and clearly just don't have room for every draft pick (since they have so many selections). Getting cash will help pay the salaries of some of their other young players.
Fantasy Impact
Brown is radar-worthy for the upcoming campaign because he's probably more NBA-ready than a lot of second-round players, but he's likely more a potential free agent pickup during the season than a draft-worthy player for most fantasy leagues (if he finds himself in Milwaukee's rotation and gets hot).
