Brooklyn Nets Eastern Atlantic
Trade Details
NETS, PISTONS SWAP THREE Friday, September 3, 2021
The Brooklyn Nets acquired forward Sekou Doumbouya and center Jahlil Okafor from the Detroit Pistons for a second-round draft pick in 2022, a second-round draft pick in 2024, a second-round draft pick in 2025, a second-round draft pick in 2027, center DeAndre Jordan and cash.
What does it give the Brooklyn Nets?
The motivation for the Nets here was to dump Jordan's massive contract. He was not a fit with Steve Nash's smaller lineups, but maybe Doumbouya could be. He will have to work hard to crack Brooklyn's rotation, however. Okafor could be waived by the Nets.
What does it give the Detroit Pistons?
For the Pistons, landing four draft picks here is a pretty good deal. However, Jordan is expected to be waived shortly. Essentially, Doumbouya was sacrificed in order to complete this money deal, but getting back four second-rounders is a solid return.
Fantasy Impact
None of Doumbouya, Okafor and Jordan should be drafted in most leagues this year. Doumbouya has some long-range value but he may struggle for playing time with the contending Nets.
