SKAL LABISSIERE LANDS IN ATLANTA Thursday, February 6, 2020
The Atlanta Hawks acquired forward/center Skal Labissiere and cash from the Portland Trail Blazers for a protected second-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks?
The Hawks are taking a flyer on Labissiere, who will turn 24 next month. He is currently injured (knee), so he may not see a lot of action with the Hawks until 2020-21 but he does have some untapped upside as a power forward or center. Atlanta is also receiving some cash in this deal.
What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers?
The Trail Blazers will receive a second-round draft pick in '24 (top-55 protected) in return for Labissiere. The latter's stay in Portland lasted a total of 42 games between last season and '19-20. He got hurt just when it appeared he may establish himself on the Blazers.
Fantasy Impact
For now, Labissiere should remain off fantasy rosters (other than fairly deep keeper leagues). He needs to prove he is healthy and ready to be part of Atlanta's rotation in order to become viable.
