Minnesota Timberwolves Western Northwest
Trade Details
HAWKS, T'WOLVES SWAP THREE Thursday, January 16, 2020
The Atlanta Hawks acquired guard Jeff Teague and forward Treveon Graham from the Minnesota Timberwolves for guard/forward Allen Crabbe.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks?
The Hawks get a quality backup point guard for emerging superstar Trae Young in the form of Teague, Now 31, Teague was originally drafted by Atlanta and spent the first seven seasons of his NBA career as a Hawk, so he should be familiar with his new surroundings. Graham is a solid combo forward who should help Atlanta off the bench. Overall, this is a solid trade for the Hawks (who need all the help they can get at present time).
What does it give the Minnesota Timberwolves?
The Timberwolves have been sliding down the Western Conference standings ever since star center Karl-Anthony Towns went down to injury. Moving Teague and Graham is not necessarily waving the white flag here, but a shakeup was definitely needed. Crabbe can shoot and should be able to provide some scoring off the bench for the T'wolves. He struggled to find playing time in Atlanta but was a solid performer for Brooklyn earlier.
Fantasy Impact
Teague will now play behind Young in Atlanta, so his fantasy stock is not likely to rise much beyond where he is now. Both Graham and Crabbe could see more minutes with their new teams but neither is recommendable from a fantasy perspective at this time.
