Trade Details
PLUMLEE, PARSONS, SOLOMON HILL TRADE Sunday, July 7, 2019
The Memphis Grizzlies acquired center Miles Plumlee and forward/guard Solomon Hill from the Atlanta Hawks for forward Chandler Parsons.
What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies?
The Grizzlies moved out Parsons, who only made 25 appearances last season, in order to acquire Plumlee to serve as a backup center. The hope here is that the 30-year-old will play behind Jonas Valanciunas (currently a free agent), who is expected to return to Memphis for 2019-20. Hill was included in the trade for salary purposes and may not stay on the roster when '19-20 opens.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks?
The Hawks decided to ship out Plumlee in order for Memphis to take Hill's contract. As for Parsons, the veteran is a shell of his former self but he could play an important leadership role with Atlanta in 2019-20 (similar to what Vince Carter did for the Hawks last season). Parsons may no longer have enough mobility to play the small forward position but could help back up John Collins at the 4.
Fantasy Impact
There is no fantasy value here, as all three veterans will come off the bench in 2019-20. Hill and Parsons may not even be part of the rotation for their respective teams, while Plumlee is not much of a fantasy stat-stuffer.
