Chicago Bulls Eastern Central
Trade Details
BULLS BRING IN OTTO PORTER JR. Wednesday, February 6, 2019
The Chicago Bulls acquired forward Otto Porter Jr. from the Washington Wizards for center/forward Bobby Portis and forward Jabari Parker.
What does it give the Chicago Bulls?
In Porter Jr., the Bulls land a quality small forward who can also play the '4' position. The 25-year-old was born in the midwest (St. Louis) and could find a home playing with a young Bulls squad that will feature him and fellow frontcourt players Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. prominently for the foreseeable future. Expect Porter Jr. to make an impact in Chicago.
What does it give the Washington Wizards?
For the Wizards, this deal is mostly about dumping Porter Jr.'s expensive contract. By bringing in two players with expiring deals in Portis and Parker, Washington can evaluate both for the rest of 2018-19 (without being forced into any commitments beyond that). Both Portis and Parker turn 24 this year, so there is still time for them to cement their NBA futures.
Fantasy Impact
All three players involved in this trade could see their stock rise in the weeks/months ahead. Porter Jr. should instantly become Chicago's new starting small forward, while both Portis and Parker have a chance to play significant minutes for a Wizards team that will be without Wall for a long, long time. The three P's (Porter Jr., Portis and Parker) are worth a look in most standard leagues.
