DETROIT DEALS FOR GUARD KHYRI THOMAS Thursday, June 21, 2018
The Detroit Pistons acquired the draft rights to combo guard Khyri Thomas from the Philadelphia 76ers for two future 2nd-round draft picks.
What does it give the Detroit Pistons?
Thomas could have easily landed in Round 1 of this year's draft, so this is a bit of canny maneuvering by Detroit's new management. While he's not yet a pass-first point guard, Thomas has the tools to eventually start at the point in the NBA (and the Pistons need an eventual replacement for Reggie Jackson). Nice move.
What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers?
Philly was flush was draft picks this year and obviously couldn't keep them all, so they send a second-round selection (Thomas) to Detroit and get two future second-rounders back.
Fantasy Impact
Keep an eye on Thomas as the upcoming NBA season unfolds. He has the goods to be a regular for Detroit, and he might even push Reggie Jackson for starts sometime soon. That said, expect more solid all-round play than stellar numbers.
