Gabbert will start Sunday's game against the Chargers, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.

Head coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Gabbert will be the next man up if Brady comes out of Sunday's matchup against Atlanta early, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Gabbert completed five of seven attempts for 46 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-10 preseason loss to the Colts on Saturday night.

The Buccaneers have re-signed Gabbert.

Gabbert started Saturday night's 34-3 preseason loss to the Titans on Saturday night and went 3-for-6 for 33 yards. He also fumbled once but recovered.

Gabbert will start Saturday's preseason contest against the Titans, Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Gabbert re-signed with the Buccaneers on a one-year, $2.5 million contract Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Gabbert completed nine of 16 passes for 143 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions across four games during the 2020 regular season. He also rushed nine times for 16 yards and committed a fumble that was recovered by the offense.

Gabbert entered the Buccaneers' 47-7 win over the Lions on Saturday to start the second half and completed nine of 15 attempts for 143 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed twice for 15 yards.

Gabbert is not among Tampa Bay's inactive players for Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, per the Buccaneers' official Twitter account.
