Obviously, there is a connection here with Ballage and current Jets head coach Adam Gase (who coached in Miami prior to landing his current gig). That said, New York is fairly deep in veteran running back talent. Therefore, this move is a bit of a head scratcher.

The Dolphins had no plans to keep the 24-year-old Ballage, who really struggled last season despite starting six of 12 games. However, they may not get anything in return for his services (the conditional pick is probably contingent upon Ballage making the Jets out of camp).

There is no need to draft Ballage, as he is currently behind Le'Veon Bell, Frank Gore and La'Mical Perine on the running back depth chart.
