Seattle Seahawks NFC West
Trade Details
JETS JETTISON JAMAL ADAMS TO SEATTLE Saturday, July 25, 2020
The Seattle Seahawks acquired safety Jamal Adams and a fourth-round draft pick in 2022 from the New York Jets for safety Bradley McDougald, a first-round draft pick in 2021, a third-round draft pick in 2021 and a first-round draft pick in 2022.
What does it give the Seattle Seahawks?
For Seattle, this move reestablishes the "Legion of Doom" secondary moniker and gives the team another playmaker on the last line of defense. Adams can rush the quarterback, cover tight ends and rack up tackles as a one-man show of sorts from the safety position. He instantly makes the Seahawks a much stronger threat in the deep NFC West division. Now, Seattle must open the vault and re-sign Adams.
What does it give the New York Jets?
For the Jets, this move was an inevitability after Adams spoke up against both Jets head coach Adam Gase and GM Joe Douglas. It was no secret that Adams wanted out of New York, so at the very least Douglas was able to get a very strong package of draft picks (as well as McDougald) in return. This will not help the Jets compete in the AFC East this year but it does set them up nicely for the future.
Fantasy Impact
Adams is definitely a quality IDP fantasy option in leagues that utilize individual defensive players instead of team defenses. McDougald is not a player who should be on the fantasy radar, though he could be an in-season IDP option if he starts making plays early on.
