DIGGS DEALT TO THE BILLS! Friday, March 20, 2020
The Buffalo Bills acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs and a seventh-round draft pick in 2020 from the Minnesota Vikings for a first-round draft pick in 2020, a fifth-round draft pick in 2020, a sixth-round draft pick in 2020 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Buffalo Bills?
The Bills decided to make a blockbuster trade for a wide receiver and wound up giving up a lot in exchange for Diggs--a great deep threat when motivated and in the right frame of mind. He should be plenty motivated to produce in Buffalo, where the Bills see themselves as Super Bowl contenders. The only question that needs to be answered here is whether Diggs can find the right chemistry with Bills franchise quarterback Josh Allen (after failing to do so with Kirk Cousins in Minnesota).
What does it give the Minnesota Vikings?
A Diggs deal seemed inevitable for some time now, so at least the Vikings were able to get a massive haul in exchange for his services. By landing four draft picks (they also gave up a seventh in '20 here), Minnesota should be able to move on rather well. They will need to replace Diggs' ability to stretch the field, though. Cousins will throw the ball to Adam Thielen and tight ends Kyle Rudolph and Irv Smith a lot in 2020, while the Vikes may become even MORE of a running football team going forward.
Fantasy Impact
Diggs may not be able to produce the same numbers in Buffalo as he did with Minnesota, though he remains an excellent fantasy option for 2020. His arrival also helps Allen's fantasy fortunes, while hurting Cousins' plight a tad.
