New York Giants NFC East
Trade Details
HARRISON HEADS TO DETROIT Thursday, October 25, 2018
The Detroit Lions acquired defensive tackle/nose tackle Damon Harrison from the New York Giants for a fifth-round draft pick in 2019.
What does it give the Detroit Lions?
In Harrison, the Lions add a premier run stuffer for their defensive line (which has struggled against the run so far in 2018). The 29-year-old Harrison is a better nose tackle than defensive tackle, so Lions coach Matt Patricia may need to get creative with his defensive fronts (since Detroit usually plays a 4-3 base defense).
What does it give the New York Giants?
The Giants are going nowhere this season, so they have decided to start stripping the roster down for the future. Harrison was one of their defensive stoppers, but he now follows in the footsteps of departed left cornerback Eli Apple (who was sent to New Orleans earlier this week). An extra fifth rounder helps the rebuild.
Fantasy Impact
Harrison does not provide a lot of sacks, as he is mostly in the lineup to stop the run. Therefore, his fantasy value is nearly negligible.
