Extremely durable and consistent, he was the consensus league-best run defender at the peak of his career. A massive interior presence with the ideal frame and footwork, he filled lanes and controlled the inside gaps with routine efficiency. Exceptional lateral quickness enabled him to play either defensive or nose tackle with equal aptitude and high production. Was not the fittest athlete, hence the nickname “Snacks.” His output diminished with time due to accumulated wear and tear.
