RAMS ACQUIRE TE DEREK CARRIER FROM D.C. Saturday, September 2, 2017
The Los Angeles Rams acquired tight end Derek Carrier from the Washington Redskins for a seventh-round draft pick in 2018.
What does it give the Los Angeles Rams?
The Rams were looking for a little depth at tight end, so adding veteran Carrier makes a lot of sense (since new LA head coach Sean McVay knows him well from their days together in Washington). Carrier will serve as the Rams' No. 3 tight end behind Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett.
What does it give the Washington Commanders?
The Redskins no longer needed Carrier because of the depth they have at the tight end position: Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis, Niles Paul et al. Therefore, they did well to secure a late-round draft selection in exchange for a player (Carrier) they were likely going to release anyway.
Fantasy Impact
There is not a lot of fantasy value here, as Carrier will be used sparingly by the Rams and is buried behind Higbee and Everett.
