Arrington was the Patriots' slot corner last season, but could be forced to start opposite Aqib Talib with Alfonzo Dennard questionable for training camp and possibly facing a suspension. Patriots re-signed CB Kyle Arrington to a four-year contract.
With the Pats yet to re-sign Aqib Talib or find a viable replacement, they've re-upped a key piece of depth. Arrington has started at least 12 games each of the past three seasons, but struggled mightily in 2012 before being demoted to nickel back. He is one of the NFL's premier slot corners, but the Pats don't want to enter 2013 with Arrington on the outside. Considering the way the cornerback market has collapsed, Talib should be back soon enough.
Free agent CB Kyle Arrington hopes to re-sign with the Patriots, but says his agent fielded "several" inquiries on Saturday.
"I started something four years ago in New England I think both sides would definitely love to see through," Arrington said Saturday. The Pats are actively scouring the loaded cornerback market, and appear to have Arrington on the back-burner. Arrington could end up returning at a team-friendly price after the first wave of free agency is through.
