Free agent S O.J. Atogwe has announced his retirement from the NFL.
Atogwe, 32, played seven seasons, spending his first six with the Rams and his final one with the Redskins in 2011. The former third-round pick was a ball-hawking centerfield-type safety who picked off 25 passes in his career. Atogwe spent last summer with the Eagles, but was part of their final cuts. In April, his plan was to come back. He received zero interest and is hanging 'em up.
Free agent S O.J. Atogwe is attempting a comeback.
Atogwe never really left on his own terms. His skills simply just eroded after he left the Rams following 2010. Atogwe, 32 in June, signed a five-year, $26 million deal with the Redskins before 2011, but lasted just one season there. He spent training camp with the Eagles last year. Atogwe has 25 career interceptions.
