| An accurate signal-caller, he really excelled with play-action passing in the NFL. Could move around in the pocket (earlier in his career), had good timing and delivered the ball in stride after making a quick read. Possessed good size under center and used an over-the-top delivery to throw over defenders. Had a fluid motion and solid arm strength. Sometimes he waited too long for plays to develop and could get rattled by the pass rush. When play-action plays broke down, he was not the type of QB to make plays with his feet. Had a bad tendency to throw interceptions in big spots. Was prone to injury early on in his NFL career, but he persevered and lasted a long time as a capable backup quarterback. | |
