Possessed a strong arm. Had hot streaks and played stellar football from time to time. Had a big-play mentality and wanted the ball at crunch time. Was a bit too streaky and inconsistent. Forced a lot of passes and had too much faith in his arm. Was not a great dissector of defenses. Was somewhat fragile/injury-prone, though he did manage to last a long time as a backup quarterback. A fine athlete, his leadership skills were first-rate and he worked well as a mentor towards the tail end of his career.
Long Range Potential: Decent journeyman quarterback.
