A third-round draft pick out of the University of Texas, he has all-around ability from the safety position. Is a solid tackler, so he can play inside the box as more of a strong safety. He can also be used on blitzes or as a deep cover safety, although he lacks some consistency in those areas of the game. Has a good frame for the safety position but could stand to add more bulk and strength to better cope with life in the National Football League.
