The so-called "Scottish Hammer" traced an obscure path to NFL employment: looking more like an extra from a medieval sword drama, he kicked his way onto an NCAA college roster plying skills developed on the rugby pitch in Edinburgh. Reputed to have destroyed several footballs with the sheer might of his foot, he signed as an undrafted free agent and quickly excelled at the pro game. Aside from his formidable leg, he has great hair and the chiseled frame of a strong safety. Adding placekicking duties is a longer term goal and cannot be ruled out at this point.
