A true inside 'backer, he could play the middle or "MIKE" linebacker role at the NFL level. Could be used as a blitzer but was even more adept at covering tight ends in space. Was a solid tackler and was built for the position of linebacker (6'0", 242 pounds). Since he did not have a lot of natural pass-rushing skills, he was often substituted on third downs at the highest level.
