Okwara announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Okwara recorded nine tackles, 2.0 sacks, two pass breakups and one forced fumble over 16 regular-season games in 2023.
Okwara notched four tackles including two sacks during Sunday's 20-17 win over the Jets.
Head coach Dan Campbell said Friday that he's confident Okwara (Achilles) will be able to play Sunday against the Vikings, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Okwara isn't listed on the injury report Wednesday.
Okwara (Achilles) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
